Book Club, Anyone?

January 31, 2018

I am a huge book person so I am really excited to share a few favorites. I go through phases where I won’t read for months and then all of the sudden finish four books in one week. Reading more consistently was actually one of my new year resolutions. So far, I haven’t read one book all year. Great start!

My favorite genre of book is self help. I absolutely love them because I believe we always can be improving and growing and self help books help get us on the right path. I tend to re-read self help books a lot and use them as a guide line to live my best life. I also love fictional books though! Twilight was definitely a guilty pleasure. I also loved the Fifty Shades of Grey books but let’s not get into that now.

My first favorite book recommendation would be The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I recommend this for any problem you face that needs fixing. Whether you’re in a toxic relationship, wanting to change your outlook or looking for answers of questions you can’t even begin to ask, it has most of the answers. It talks about how to not take things personally, to not assume things, being more impeccable with your word and to always do your best. I absolutely love this book and swear by it.

The second book I’d recommend is The War Of Art by Steven Pressfield. This book is a short and easy read for those who aren’t the biggest book readers. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until I was finished. The book talks about breaking through battles and beating resistance so you can push past doubt and fear. It only took me a little over an hour to read, that’s how short it is! Short but effective, just like me.

My third book would be The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s a magical fictional book about fulfilling your destiny and embracing the journey along the way. It has so much charm and is a read that excites you and challenges you.

Next would be Macbeth by the one and only Shakespeare. The great thing about No Fear Shakespeare books is that on the left side it’s the original Shakespeare text, and on the right is a translated version that’s easier to understand not having studied Shakespeare. I love this story since it’s so dark but told so beautifully. I love dark romantic things so of course this is a favorite. There’s something so mystical about the way Shakespeare is written and it truly transports you to another time.

One of my newer favorite poetry books is Whiskey Words & A Shovel by R. H. Sin. There were so many beautiful pieces in this book that hit home with me. Sitting outside reading poetry, drinking tea (or usually wine), during sunset is one of my favorite things to do. It’s therapeutic and is almost a version of meditation for me, especially if you’re the type to not be able to sit still to meditate. Millennials can’t seem to sit without distractions these days. *shade*

I am HUGE in feminism and Feminist Fight Club by Jessica Bennett really dives deep in the sexism and lack of equality in work places. It gives a sense of unity knowing that it happens EVERYWHERE but how we can work towards changing the way it’s treated. It also is a great book for men to read so you can reevaluate and see if you’re unknowingly apart of the problem so you can FIX IT.

Let me know how you like these recommendations and send me yours!

Thank you for the lovely book recommendations! I can definitely tell that you’re a reader from your blog posts. I relate so much with your love of books and using No Fear Shakespeare (it’s truly a life savior). I would love to know if you have other guilty pleasure reads besides Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey? (As much as I love a good ole classics, poetry and self-help books of course)

The alchemist is one of my favorite books. It had such a mysterious undertone about life that I think we all should be able to sense… considering not everyone has the ability to see their future✨🔮👀

Your blog has brought me so much inspiration and I hope your blog continues to grow because I look forward to everything you write about. The best thing about your blog is that I feel like its your journal but you're writing to us and you are opening up to the world! That is something I can really look up to. I'm not too young but when your blog had just come out I needed some more inspiration and luckily I visited your blog and fell in love with everything about it!

PLEASE if you ever get the chance to read my comment, I would like to know your thoughts about MOTIVATION. what motivates you? how do you motive yourself? what advice can you give to everyone who just needs to get up and starting being more productive! give us tips, give us more books to read on (if any). also for future articles I would like to know what do you do to stay in shape to feel healthy.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz it’s an amazing book that everybody should read! Life and human relations would be different. The important thing of this book is to do all the actions that are written on it. It’s difficult but not impossible and I recommend it to all the people I meet.

I would just like to say I’m very proud and impressed with your work on this blog. I believe many people would like to have one but are too lazy to do all the work that comes with the startup of it all. Im looking forward to upcoming posts that derive from your thoughtful little brain lol

~as to say “I love what you’ve done with the place”~
