OH VALENTINES DAY! It’s almost here and for the first time in four years I finally have an amazing and honest man for my valentine… Never thought this day would come! Last Valentine’s day I spent alone, getting a massage at Burke Williams followed by a drunken solo lunch at Cheesecake Factory repeatedly telling myself to stay single for at least a year. I was “working on myself.”
Today, Eric and I are celebrating a little bit of good news at the beach! If all goes through, I cannot wait to tell you guys! A lady bug even landed on my hand, so our good luck is looking up. However, we are really excited because this V day will be our very first valentines together as a couple! We started dating two days after Valentine’s day last year, and yes, right after I had solemnly swore to myself I’d stay single. Love just happens when you’re not expecting it! CHEESY, MOVING ON.
I’ve always taken a liking to Valentine’s day, even when I was dateless! Frankly, I get annoyed with people who complain about being alone on Valentine’s Day. I love seeing people in love and having a day dedicated to honor that just makes me smile! Although I am the girl who loves PDA, even when it’s an overly aggressive couple eating each others faces at a Pinkberry for instance… So, maybe I’m not one to speak.
However, holidays like these can put a strain on your budget and if you’re still trying to recover from Christmas, it can be quite stressful. Here are a few cute gift ideas that wont ruin your wallet or your relationship.
CARE PACKAGE – Put together a basket full of his or her favorite things. For Eric, I would do something along the lines of his favorite candies (that alone could easily take up the whole gift), favorite flowers (MEN LIKE FLOWERS TOO LADIES) and something hand made. I always vouch for going hand made because everyone can buy a gift, but it takes more time and effort to make something. I’d maybe suggest knitting a beanie or a scarf, or even put together a playlist of songs that represents your relationship! Make sure you burn it on CD though. Presenting a spotify playlist is quite far from romantic.
LOVE LETTERS – Go around the house, (if you don’t live together or have access, use his or her car/work/purse etc.), and put sneaky little love letters! Either in envelopes or post-it’s work! You could write how ever many things you love about them, your favorite moments you’ve shared together or even little handwritten poems! There’s nothing sweeter than when I receive a little love note from Eric in my wallet professing his undying love for me. Yes, it’s undying.
BATH BOMB – Either buy a few bath bombs or make your own! Here’s a link that shows how easy it is to make them. You could make it with their favorite scents and aromas and it definitely would not go unappreciated! If Eric made a bath bomb from scratch for me, I’d probably cry. Oh yes, I am that girlfriend. Take your bath bombs and set up a cute bath situation for two! If your bath tub is small, even better. *wink wink* Light some candles and incense and throw on your trusty customized CD playlist and you’ve got a steamy little date.
VOUCHERS – Put together a little book of vouchers solely dedicated to what your partner could benefit and enjoy! You could throw in a get out of a fight voucher, massage, prepare dinner, or even breakfast in bed voucher! Specialize it to exactly what would put a smile on your partners face. It’s definitely a more corny gift but hey, at least you’re cheesy and thoughtful.
Hope you try some of these out, and if you’re alone this Valentine’s day, don’t let that get you down! Take all the money and energy you’d spend on someone else and INVEST IT all over yourself! V Day is a day to acknowledge that love is in the air, even if it’s not romantic and we need a lot more love in this world. Stay tuned for V day outfits!

February 16, 2018 at 4:47 pmI’m single almost 4 years and don’t like watching all that insincerely acts of love only on V day)Unfortunately, in our country it’s a normal thing:( or maybe the main problem is in people, but not in the country…Anyway, your post is probably one of the few things that makes me believe – true love really exists! The main point in not in one particular day, but in true sincere feelings! Stella, I hope that you receive and give love every single day, because thanks to love our life makes sence❤️And I wish you never feel alone again💖
