Vitamins Are Good For You

Growing up, I always hated taking vitamins. I would find any excuse not to take them or prolong having to take them and when I finally HAD to take them, it would result to me throwing a fit (I was a psycho child). A few years ago I decided to try veganism for a month. My reasoning to try it was just to see if I could do it so I didn’t have much driving the decision unlike now where I can’t even look at a steak without seeing a poor cow. For the last two weeks of the month long veganism, I had basically just stopped eating anything and ended up becoming soooo anemic. I couldn’t get out of bed because I was exhausted, always had headaches and the list of shit goes onnnn. I didn’t really know what to eat back then and I was so unaware of the importance of vitamins. Oh how the times have changed…

Ever since I decided to cut out meat (almost a year now!) I knew vitamins were gonna be a huge part of my daily routine to ensure that feeling of exhaustion wouldn’t come back! I notice when I don’t take my vitamins consistently, all those symptoms hit me hard. I would recommend getting your blood checked because everyone’s body needs different things – although I haven’t gotten my blood taken so major HYPOCRITE ALERT* BUT after doing extensive research, I found these to be the best universal vitamins to take if you don’t eat meat or vegetables that often and you want to be a healthy human…

CoQ-1o – This one helps with heart function, anti aging for the skin and is good for you all around. I also get headaches quite often and this is supposed to help with minimizing them. I take GNCs CoQ-10 pill.

B-12 – This one helps with your nervous system, digestion, brain function and helps prevent anemia which is something I ALSO need to be a human. Deficiencies in B-12 can link to dizziness, exhaustion and feelings of sadness and all the things you don’t need in your life so I highly recommend you take this. I take GNCs B-12 pill.

B-Complex + Energy – I take this pill every morning because B complex helps with maintaining energy levels and helps make up for poor diets which I’m guessing the majority of us have. The energy part is just added caffeine so I take it in the morning but you can get it without it. I’m lethargic as hell so anything to help that is a must. I take GNCs B- Complex pill.

Fish Oil  This is really helpful if you don’t eat fish since it helps with your heart, your vision, inflammation and also help with your skin. Also, the fish oil and omega 3’s have been shown to help with depression and anxiety which I also definitely suffer from time to time. I take GNC Triple Strength pills.

Iron – This helps with anemia, I take it every time it’s…that time of month…. since menstruating depletes your body of iron. If you start taking iron pills though, do some research as to how much you should take since everyone is different and it can be damaging if you take too much. I take Nature Made pills.

Apple Cider Vinegar – I absolutely HATE the taste of the liquid form of apple cider vinegar. I’d literally rather jump off a cliff than drink it… slight exaggeration BUT to me, it’s disgusting. The pill version is the better alternative for me, but if you don’t mind the taste, take that instead. It helps with breaking down proteins, blood sugar, it’s loaded with other helpful vitamins and has also been shown to help your immune system and weight loss. Why are the best things for you the GROSSEST things ever?! I take Nature’s Life pills.

Calcium – This is great for keeping your bones strong and healthy and also helps with your heart and muscles. This is what we all SHOULD have been taking instead of drinking disgusting milk (which is blood and puss, LOOK IT UP). I take Nature Made pills.

I also take a vitamin that helps with hair, skin and nails. I don’t have one I’ll recommend just yet since I’ve been trying a few different products to see what works best for me, but I always try to find the ones with Biotin in them. That’s a must since Biotin helps with all of those things. Another vitamin I take is a women’s multivitamin and a probiotic. I find those to be more personal so I’d recommend going to the store and reading up on the benefits you think could help you personally. The Women’s Once Daily pill I take is the MyKind Organic pill and the probiotic is the UltraFlora Women’s Probiotic

I hope these suggestions help you guys with any of the things your bodies lack! I swear by these products and I’ve seen a definite change in my mood and body since incorporating them in my routine. I’m obviously no nutritionist so please don’t come hounding me on what I’m taking is wrong. I’m sensitive so if you have any suggestions, please let me know kindly!

    Hi there! Love your blog and this post. I’m a vegan myself so these are all supplements I look for too. From my research I’ve learned that a lot of people aren’t actually calcium deficient in terms of their diet, they just don’t have enough vitamin D which helps your body absorb the calcium. So apparently taking calcium without giving your body what it needs to absorb it doesn’t do much if anything at all…who knew! Also, as it seems you might have remained vegan for ethical reasons, I learned that fish oil is actually taken from the skin of fish which don’t naturally produce omega-3 fatty acids themselves, but they get it from eating microalgae. So these companies are killing fish just to obtain the omega-3s when they could obtain it from the same algae the fish are eating. No judgement whatsoever if you take them! I just wanted to share some info I’ve learned from the research I’ve done for my own body. Sending love and light your way!
